Praça da República: second phase of works
Starting February 5th, Praça da República will enter a new phase of urban transformation with the advancement of the Hospital Line works, promoted by Infraestruturas de Portugal.
This stage, estimated to last 30 days, aims to renew the underground infrastructure of Águas de Coimbra and involves the temporary reorganization of traffic.
The attached image shows the scheme of alternative road circuits during the intervention.
Thus, the intervention will be carried out between the intersection of Rua Alexandre Herculano and Rua Lourenço de Almeida Azevedo, with traffic in Praça da República only allowed on the leftmost lane.
Almeida Garrett Street will be closed to access to Praça da República, with the alternative route being via Venâncio Rodrigues and Alexandre Herculano streets. During the intervention, access to Almeida Garrett Street will be restricted to residents and loading/unloading vehicles.
Throughout the entire period of the disruption, pedestrian traffic will be ensured, as well as access for emergency vehicles.
The works to be carried out in this intervention are as follows:
• Interventions in the infrastructure of Águas de Coimbra, namely in the water supply, wastewater drainage and rainwater drainage networks;
• Execution of public lighting infrastructure;
• SLAT (Automatic Traffic Lighting System);
• Execution of curbs, sidewalks and paving.
