At a time when structural changes are anticipated in the transport and mobility sector, in line with national goals for the decarbonisation of the economy, the ongoing promotion of public transport and electric mobility plays a key role.

The energy transition in the transport sector brings new challenges. It is in this context that, on October 9th, 2025, in Coimbra, the seminar “Safety and Fire Protection in Electric Buses for Public Passenger Transport” will take place, an initiative organised by the Institute for Mobility and Transport and Metro Mondego.

The main objective of this seminar is to foster the sharing of knowledge and experiences regarding the safe operation of electric vehicles, enabling the various stakeholders and agents to identify risks, define procedures, and act effectively in the face of incidents—particularly in fire situations involving electric buses in public passenger transport.
