Final paving work on Avenida Sá da Bandeira
Starting May 5th, final paving work will begin on Avenida Sá da Bandeira as part of the Metrobus project, promoted by Infraestruturas de Portugal.
This intervention, scheduled to last until May 14th, will involve temporary traffic restrictions at the roundabout next to the Luís Vaz de Camões Monument, necessary for the paving of the Metrobus lane, as well as the regular traffic lane.
During this period, it will not be possible to make U-turns at the western end of Avenida Sá da Bandeira, nor to access Rua da Manutenção Militar from the ascending lane of the avenue. The alternative route will be via Rua António Vasconcelos, Rua Antero de Quental, and Rua Tenente Valadim.
The alternative road traffic and pedestrian routes are shown in the attached image.
Throughout the entire period of traffic restrictions, pedestrian access will be maintained, as will access for emergency vehicles.
It is important to emphasize that this intervention on Avenida Sá da Bandeira will go beyond the implementation of the new mobility system. The ongoing work aims to allow for a profound urban requalification and modernization of the city's underground infrastructure, namely the renewal of water supply pipes, electrical networks, and essential technical infrastructure.
We appreciate everyone's understanding regarding the temporary inconveniences and reiterate that these interventions represent a structural investment in the city's future, contributing to more efficient mobility, a modern public space, and safer and more modern urban infrastructure.
